    Our hidden gems

Every year our team spends hours in the Alps exploring new luxury ski chalets and lodges. Whilst many are in the 'headline resorts' there are many we feature that are not in quite such obvious destinations.

Here are six example of luxury ski chalets...

    HIDDEN DRAGON, 4 VALLEES
Ideally only 20 minutes from Sion Airport, this is the ultimate private chalet with exceptional service, a "ski in, ski out" location and offered with in-house spa therapists.

Currently available for 17th Feb 2013 - CHF 90,000 with exclusive use and a catered service.

    CHALET EUGENIA, KLOSTERS
It is rare to find such a large, family chalet in this resort. Famed for its links to UK Royalty, the resort of Klosters and this luxury ski chalet are a winning combination.

Weeks available in March from CHF 35,000 per week with a catered service.

    CHALET 11 DEGREES EAST, OBERGURGL
This Tyrolean resort is better known for its hotels which makes this boutique "ski in, ski out" a rare find. We love the chalet, it is privately  owned and managed and feedback from our guests is always exemplary.

Easter (31st March 2013) is currently available at £16,500 per week with a catered service.

    CHALET N, LECH
New this season, this incredible luxury ski chalet is more of a private hotel than humble chalet. Every aspect of this property is first class. The 'entry fee' is phenomenal, but it has the standards  to match!

Selected weeks of the season available at EUR 270,000 per week, full service.

CHAMOIS LODGE, ST MARTIN DE BELLEVILLE
We love St. Martin de Belleville because of its small French village feel, yet is super fast links to the 3 Valley ski area. This new property is first rate and offered with a uncomplicated, attentive and tailored service.

Currently available for 17th Feb 2013 - £16,995 with exclusive use and a catered service.

    CHALET TWENTY26, MORZINE
Whilst Morzine is a well known area, small luxury chalets are not something in abundance here. It's short distance from Geneva makes this an idea location for families or for short breaks and Twenty26 offers boutique luxury for a sensible price.

Available for selected weeks of the season starting at £700 per person with a catered service.

  • Skier or Foody? My Top Choices for a Great Alpine Lunch.

Skier or Foody? My Top Choices for a Great Alpine Lunch.

Twelve years ago,  I was a senior chef de partie at Kensington Place, London. In November 2000, I left the city to become head chef of a luxury chalet in Crans Montana, Switzerland and it was here that I came to love the mountains. There's nothing quite like speeding down the pistes on a crisp morning, under bright blue skies - the fresh air is invigorating and the views are incredible (especially in Crans Montana with its famous  1000 peaks vista). Cheffing is in my blood though and it should therefore come as no surprise that I'm a bit of a foody! As much as I love skiing, I've always seen it mostly as a means of exciting transportation to and from lunch! My holiday snaps are always dominated by spectacular images of the cooking I've sampled, AKA 'food porn.'

After years in this industry, I've skied all over the world and can confidently say I'm  the one to ask if you're looking for the perfect spot to enjoy a tasty Alpine lunch.  My top five recommendations include the Chetzeron in Crans Montana for its panoramic views, Valaisan wines and delicious puddings - pistachio ice cream cake with meringues anyone?La Fruitiere in Val d'Isere is next - full of character with antiques, milk churns and white washed wood (when you've finished eating you can party away at the infamous Folie Douce next door).  Zermatt has some of the best mountain restaurants around (you can even go gourmet ski guiding here) and Chez Vrony is our personal favourite.  Courchevel has more Michelin starred restaurants than any other ski resort - for a special treat, try Le Cap Horn.  And for a typical Swiss mountain lunch, Chez Dany in Verbier delivers on all fronts.  Sometimes, a bubbling cheese fondue is the only way forward! I really feel that a good mountain lunch is an essential part of an unforgettable ski holiday - try one of these places and I'm sure you'll become just as much of a ski foody as me!

If you're a ski foody, give us a call and we'll plan your ski holiday around some excellent restaurant reservations. We can also recommend the best 'foody' hotels and chalets +44 1993 899 420
