Top 10 Chalets for Families

When the kids are happy, you're happy -especially when on holiday. To ensure the smiles never leave their faces, here are our top 10 child friendly chalets -

Tivoli Lodge, Davos
Having recently visited Tivoli Lodge we were reminded that it has got, without doubt, the best playroom in the Alps! Described as an indoor multi-story soft play gym, this child heaven can host up to 20 little ones and features a ball pit and slide! Teenagers will love the home cinema too. A dream location for a holiday with several families...or take all the grandchildren!

Chalet Solyneou, Val d'Isere
Solyneou has a fantastic children's club just a stonesthrow from its front door. There's something to suit all ages (from 4 months to thirteen years) and activities range from pancake making to iceskating! It's a beautiful chalet too - you'll love the huge, open plan sitting room with cosy fire (and the swimming pool). Prices are very reasonable for such fantastic service too.

Chalet Les Esserts, Verbier
Sleeping just 6, this chalet is ideal for a relaxed family break and children will love the charming, built in, double bunks.  An exclusive indoor pool and spa (shared with just 2 other apartments) will keep everyone entertained after a day's skiing.

Chalet Iberis, Meribel
Meribel is the ultimate family destination boasting excellent ski schools and lovely gentle runs for beginners.  Iberis is the perfect base too. The spacious bedrooms have ample room for cots and extra beds and there's a playroom and large garden - great for snowball fights. The creche here is fantastic too - amongst the best childcare available in any ski resort.

Summit View, La Plagne
The seven beautiful chalet suites in the Summit View development have been designed specifically with families in mind and they're a popular choice. If you're looking for extra help, take advantage of the excellent in house nanny service.  The ski school meeting point is right outside the front door - few properties offer more convenience!

Chalet Bear, Klosters
You can't get more 'chocolate box' than this. Chalet Bear is a quintessential wooden chalet, bursting with charm and with wonderful views - perfect for a traditional family Christmas in the mountains. Privately owned by an English family, this property is always a haven for happy children.

Snowy Creek, Whistler
When the name of a place sounds like something from a children's adventure film, you know this is a good choice! Snowy Creek is ski in ski out, adjacent to the base of both mountains in Whistler and very close to the ski school meeting points. With 3, 4 and 5 bedroom chalets available in this enclave, there's something to suit all family groups.

Alaska Lodge, Morzine
Location, location, location! Banish all cries of 'Are we there yet?' when you stay in Morzine - it's just over an hour from Geneva airport and is an ideal resort for families. What's more, the Alaska Lodge overlooks the Pleney nursery slopes. Watch your little ones perfect their snow ploughs from your own balcony!

Chalet Floralie, St Martin de Belleville
Sleeping up to 18, this chalet is a wonderful base for a large family group - there's a bunk room for 4 of the children and a games room that's great for adults and children alike. St Martin is a beautiful village (quieter than its larger neighbours in Les Trois Vallees if you're looking for a bit of peace) and there is so much skiing on your doorstep, you won't need to ski the same piste twice.

Tiehack Estate, Aspen
Children can run riot in this grand, homely lodge boasting a home theatre plus games and billard room amongst its many facilities.  There are patios galore - great for post ski barbeques and you're close to all 4 mountains here. Buttermilk Mountain (the closest) has plenty of child friendly ski trails and something to suit all the family.
