The Resort

Skiing is Austria's national sport and St Anton is the country's celebrated ski capital. This began when Hannes Schneider, a resident of nearby Stuben, pioneered the downhill skiing technique here in the 1920's. St Anton's impressive history is renowned around the world and it attracts an international clientele both for it's fantastic skiing and lively party atmosphere. Expect table dancing in ski boots in many of the well placed après-ski bars on the lower runs into town! Despite this, St Anton retains much historic charm, with elegant wellness hotels and traditional chalets lining its long, pedestrianised central street. The Arlberg ski region is reliably snowsure and there is endless challenging skiing here, as well as plenty of fun slopes for the less experienced, especially on the Rendl and Nasserein slopes. With 3 interconnecting mountain ski areas below the Gampen, Galzig and Valluga peaks, you need never ski the same piste twice. The Arlberg pass also covers the neighbouring resorts of Lech, Zurs, Stuben and St Christoph should you want to explore further. Accommodation can be found in a wide choice of beautiful hotels and private catered chalets making St Anton a top choice for skiing in Europe.
