At an altitude of 2,100 metres, Tignes is one of the most snowsure resorts in the Alps. Guests to the resort enjoy its fast lift system, plentiful off-piste and easy links to neighbouring Val d'Isère, high up in the Tarentaise Valley. For experts, the Espace Killy area's long, sweeping black, La Sache, which runs 1,200 metres into the quaint village of Tignes-les-Brévières is a must-ski piste. Beginners and intermediates will enjoy the varied terrain and spectacular views available throughout the valley. As well as the high-quality ski area to keep visitors busy, the town also offers plenty of unusual activities centred on its lake. Husky-sledging, ice-skating, ice-diving and cross-country skiing are all popular. Another of the resort's greatest attributes is its wide range of luxury, "ski in" accommodation. With the nursery slopes based right in the centre of the resort, Tignes is also a good choice for families with young children.
