Want to know what The Oxford Ski Company get up to in the summer? One of the most important aspects of our job as your private travel consultant is to make sure we know the luxury chalet and hotel market better than anyone. In the summer, this means multiple visits to the Alps to inspect new chalets, re-visit existing ones and see what has changed in each resort. In the last few months we have been in Courchevel, La Tania, Verbier, Chamonix, Megeve, Zermatt, Saas Fee, Lech, Obergurgl, St Anton, San Cassiano and Cortina d’Ampezzo to make sure that we literally know the chalets and hotels we offer inside and out. It has been a very busy summer!
Last week I had the pleasure of viewing almost 75 fantastic chalets in Courchevel, including some of the most stunning properties available to rent anywhere in the world. If you are looking for the pinnacle of chalet design and luxury then this resort should be high on your list, but Courchevel is also hiding some superb mid range properties which we think deserve special attention. Properties such as Aigle Blanc and Chalet Astragale offer superb service, excellent facilities and are located right next to chalets which cost three times as much! These chalets prove that Courchevel does not need to cost a small fortune and on off peak weeks can also offer very good value.
Special mentions
At the top end of the market we were very impressed with Le Petit Palais, the latest addition to the exclusive Residence de Bellecote enclave alongside the mighty Chalet Edelweiss, Art Chalet and Chalet Gentianes. Despite the name there is nothing ‘petit’ about this chalet which offers 1,500 square metres of living space including a stunning swimming pool, spa, gym, and private nightclub. This chalet feels enormous and The Bellecote piste runs right along side for perfect ‘ski in, ski out’ access. A dream chalet for a special ski holiday.
Also new to our portfolio is Chalet Greystone which we loved for its spacious and luxurious design. This modern chalet is filled with natural light and despite being a few years old, has not aged a day. Without doubt this chalet also has the best cinema room in the Alps!
We were really pleased to re-visit Aigle Blanc which we think is a brilliant mid range option. This chalet is on the Rue du Clarine, close to the superb Le Rocher, Grand Roche, Chalet Eden and the newly renovated Chalet White Knight. The chalet is priced from EUR 22,500 to EUR 36,000 per week to include a chef and butler and offers 4 en – suite bedrooms, an outdoor hot tub and a convenient location for both the skiing and the town centre.
Last chance to get ahead of the crowds.
