When I was told I was off on a trip to Lech to stay in the stunning new property Uberhaus, expectations were high…very high. Lech is a renowned, upmarket and very sophisticated resort. And Uberhaus is a brand new super luxurious chalet in this resort. So you can hardly blame the level of expectation I had. I potentially could have been setting myself up for a fall here, but I am pleased to say that it lived up to all expectations and much, much more.
The resort is beautiful; undeniably exclusive yet it exudes a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere that you wouldn’t always expect to find in a resort of this calibre. Without naming names, we’ve all seen that scene in Pretty Woman along Rodeo Drive…let’s just say that sometimes when skiing, we all will admit to feeling slightly like Julie Roberts before she lost the knee high boots! But Lech boasts a very relaxed atmosphere and picture postcard scenery to match.
The chalet was one of the best I have stayed in. Right from the start you can see the attention to detail that has been invested when building this property. They have hit the nail on the head with combining traditional alpine feel with modern touches and a ‘sprinkle of sparkle’. The clever use of mirroring effect in the stairwell makes an already large chalet (over 600sqm) feel like Buckingham Palace! And the mosaic tile work in some of the bathrooms would most certainly be the envy of the Ottomans.
Lech is a resort where the European royalty chose to holiday and whilst I was a guest at Uberhaus I certainly felt like royalty. The service was top notch with food that you would find at some of the best restaurants in London. Breakfast was fit for a king. Afternoon tea was presented in such a way that I dared not touch it for fear of ruining a work of art! And Pre-dinner cocktails and canapés served downstairs in the bar and billiards room left your taste buds fantasising about how dinner could possibly top this!?
But it is not all about the food and we did actually get out to do some skiing and what an ease that was. This is a true ski in/ski out property; just after breakfast your equipment is already outside the chalet, literally on the piste waiting for you to simply click in and go…you can see why we felt like royalty. The only downside of this trip would have to be in the simple fact that I've seen the light - ski in/ski out, outdoor plunge pool and Michelin dining...my husband is not best pleased!
