Val Thorens is the highest altitude resort in France at 2,330m and has always been know for its great snow conditions, long opening season and superb links into the extensive 3 Vallees ski area - the largest ski area in the world!
After a recent visit to the resort last week it is however clear to see that things are beginning to change here....
Val Thorens has perhaps in the past been considered the "poor neighbour" to the nearby glitzy resorts of Courchevel and Meribel. With the addition of Val Thorens' first 5-star hotel this season (the modern and stylish Hotel Altapurna), this is definitely no longer the case and Val Thorens is fast becoming one of "the" places to stay.
