Ski Accommodation Help

One of the questions our travel consultants will ask you when you first ring our office is whether you are looking to stay in a luxury chalet or luxury hotel. It is not always an easy question to answer, especially if you do not fully know the benefits of each one. So here is an explanation of the highlights of both, seeing as we have been sending guests on these holidays for the past 14 years.

The old fashioned picture of chalets in the mountains is of something possibly quite traditional and rustic but with a homely and cosy feel about it. However, as can be seen from our Luxury Chalet Collection, there are many out there nowadays that far exceed ones original expectations in terms of luxury and comfort. So there is no need to feel that you will in any way be compromising these qualities when choosing a luxury ski chalet over a luxury hotel. In fact some of our larger properties will give you the feeling that you have just rented out your own private hotel for you and your friends to enjoy alone. Therefore, one benefit of staying in a luxury chalet is the privacy you have and a rare chance to treat an incredible property as your home.

Another huge benefit of booking a luxury chalet is the unrivalled personal service you will receive. In most luxury catered chalets you will have the same staff with you throughout the week who will be personable and professional and on hand to tailor your holiday, as far as is possible, to suit your needs. Your staff will welcome you from the moment you walk through the door and will listen to your requests, whether it be what the children prefer to eat, what time you would like your meals, which cheeses you would like on your cheese board or a surprise for someone's birthday, they have the flexibility to help you wherever they can.

In fact, in some of our larger chalets your chalet manager will often ring you before you have even started your holiday to discuss the proposed menu plan and any queries you might have so that you can relax before you have even left home.

However, if you now feel yourself swaying towards making a chalet booking, just hold your horses! Our luxury hotels also have many benefits of their own which are hard to match.

First of all they are much easier to book for those looking to go away on a short break or a weekend and possibly for those booking slightly last minute as well. The beauty of a luxury hotel is you can simply book and turn up, knowing that they will have almost everything you need under one roof.  For example a lot of hotels can print your lift passes out at their reception, many have their own ski hire services, and gymnasiums and large swimming pools and spas are common place.

With a hotel you also have an element of freedom given the more discreet service and the dining arrangements, allowing you to either book into the restaurant each night or to go out and sample what the local restaurants have to offer. There is also no staff day off meaning your service will be consistent throughout your stay.

Finally, those looking to ski in North America and Canada will more often than not book a hotel given that luxury chalets are a much smaller concept over there.
