The Mooserwirt
Located on the last section of the St Anton home run and with the bus stop just outside, you have no excuse not to join the unbeatable atmosphere in The Mooserwirt après ski bar. Known as ‘The Mother of all Après Ski Bars’ and employing 65 staff to serve 2,500 litres of beer every afternoon throughout the season, it is known to sell more beer than any other bar in Austria! The staff are dressed from head to toe in traditional Austrian attire and the DJ has been playing the cheesiest tunes since the day it opened in 1989, entertaining crowds of all ages dancing on the tables in the ski boots. The bar boasts panoramic views of the Arlberg region and has perfected every requirement for the best après bar. It would be a crime to leave St Anton without experiencing the best of the best, traditional après ski!
La Folie Douce (Val Thorens).
I first went to this popular après spot with my university ski trip and fell in love with all that is the Folie Douce! At the dizzying heights of 2,600 metres you simply feel like you are partying at the top of the world. You usually only need one beer before being enticed on to a table and are stamping to an infectious beat. This is certainly the place that dreams are made of and is a ‘must’ visit when you are in the Three Valleys. There is also now a Folie in Meribel so it's possible to go to both in one afternoon…. Heaven!
Le Rond Point, Meribel
There are many reasons why people love to ski: the adrenaline, the scenery, the fresh mountain air, the mountain restaurants, well I could go on! Lets face it though, it is one thing you can be certain of, every skier at some point in their adult life will experience après and will LOVE IT!! One will find many haunts all over the Alps, but there is a golden oldie in the Three Valleys that NEVER disappoints! The Rond Point! Loud live music – check! Alcohol flowing – check! Dancing on tables in ski boots – check! Crowd surfing – check! Sketchy ski down in the dark – check! As après goes, the Rond Point in Meribel is one of the best. Amazing music (some bands have actually become famous – remember ‘The Feeling’?!!), plenty of booze, an electric atmosphere and a mass of people all in one place to have a good time! It is safe to say, if an après party is what you are looking for after a day on the mountain, make sure you stop off at the Rond Point and indulge!!
