Top Ten Reasons To Go To Meribel

Top Ten Reasons To Go To Meribel

Meribel is one of those resorts that offers so much to so many. Being incredibly picturesque also helps pull the same families for generations each season and works its magic on first timers as well. With many luxury chalets, hotels and much more we thought we'd give you (if you needed any more persuasion) top ten reasons to book your next ski adventure in Meribel!

Three Valleys. This internationally renown ski region has much to be proud of; with some of the most idyllic yet exhilarating European skiing, 321 Alpine ski runs (51 green, 132 blue, 106 red, 32 black) and 600km of pisted ski area reaching a maximum skiing altitude of 3,230 metres, Meribel deserves its resort reputation nestled in the heart of this exceptional ski terrain.

Fantastic range of properties. Enjoy a full compliment of chalets and hotels in Meribel, including the uber luxurious Mont Tremblant (sleeps 12) with an amazing feeling of space and all the trimmings for a lavish skiing holiday, Chalet Iamato winner of the Tourist Office’s ‘5* Label Meribel’ award (10-12). For one of many magnificent hotels check out L’Helios for 4* boutique luxury and ski in/ski out access.

Charming Town. Meribel was dreamt up in 1936 by Scotsman Colonel Peter Lindsay as a resort alternative to the German and Austrian resorts during the rise of the Nazis. He wanted to maintain the Savoyard style and used specialised architects that would help protect the look and atmosphere of the town. This is evident today; the town has an enchanting effect on all visitors, with quintessential Alpine chalets, pretty streets for luxury shopping, and it is surrounded by trees giving it a protected, snug feel.

Ski Schools. The resort is very family centred and as a consequence has a wide breadth of ski schools and private guides to choose from. Because of this range you can really focus on having fun and engaging lessons with excellent technical knowledge and up to the minute advice for your children and adults who are either learning or want to be pushed into a new area of our beloved sport. We highly recommend Magic in Motion, New Generation or Ski Marmalade for a great range of tuition, guiding and a wealth of experience.

Apres Ski. Not a prerequisite for everyone but for those who enjoy unwinding after a hard day’s skiing with a tipple or two rather than a dip in a pool Meribel has an excellent post ski vibe. For the movers and shakers head to La Folie Douce on the slopes for high tempo atmosphere, outrageous live music and great drinks, then ski further towards Meribel and stop in at La Rond Point Bar for another round before returning down in to town. Once in town there are a great range of cocktail bars, pubs and clubs to continue partying hard.

All abilities. When planning a holiday being able to cater for the whole party can sometimes be a tricky point, particularly when you have a range of ages or abilities. However due to the nature of the Three Valleys there is snow much (sorry…!) to choose from, and much skiing to be had for all! With plenty of all colours of runs and exhilarating off-piste you’ll find the end of the day tea or canapés will be full of exciting stories to share from one and all.

Non Skiers. As above when considering a resort you might also need to consider those who will be remaining in the town rather than flying down the slopes, Meribel has plenty to offer. The Parc Olympique with its swimming pool, Jacuzzi, indoor ice rink, fitness centre, wellness area and spa (children under 5 are given free entrance) will happily entertain, relax and exhaust children and adults alike. There’s plenty of boutique shopping to be had from established couture through to high tech sports shops and little cafés and chocolate shops to buy gifts for loved ones back home. All lifts and gondolas can be used by non-skiers so you can still enjoy lunches up the mountains and those views. There are also a whole host of snow based activities such as husky sledding, walking, snowmobiling, ice climbing and plenty more.

Fabulous Food. The Alps boast an exquisite array of delicious restaurants both on the slopes and also in the resorts and Meribel makes no exception. L’Ekrin, the Michelin starred restaurant of the 5* Hotel Kaila blends a sumptuous balance of creativity, textures and local flavours, paired with an extensive wine cellar. We also recommend Chez Kiki or the Relais Chateaux run Le Grand Coeur in the Hotel Meribel. Up the mountain head to La Fruitiere the restaurant run by La Folie Douce for delicious food and perhaps a break from the beats…?!

Family friendly. Meribel is notoriously family friendly and as a consequence the childcare runs at a very high standard. You want your little darlings to be looked after by the best and we highly recommend Meribel Nanny Services or t4nanny; from tiny babies to toddlers and beyond these two outstanding companies will put your minds at ease during your holiday with fun filled days for your children and professional approach to looking after children.

Extensive help at hand. We have found that Meribel has continued to supply a steady and top-notch selection of concierge companies that all aim for making your ski holiday the ‘one to remember’. We aim to put you in the very best hands whilst on holiday and with transfer companies like Snow Drone and 3 Valley Transfers your journey to and from resort will be part of the holiday. There are also companies that aim to relax and pamper whilst on holiday, for example Pamper off Piste, who come to your chalet and offer a range of massage, facials and other beauty treatments. We are always looking to make your holiday extraordinary and with our expert knowledge of the resort we'll endeavour to ensure that all our clients feel completely looked after throughout their ski adventure in the Alps.
