With just two months until the slopes open for the 2019/20 ski season, here’s the rundown of what to expect from one of Europe’s most popular ski resorts this year. Courchevel is promising yet another incredible season with additional ski lifts, an impressive multi-service leisure centre and an outstanding new 4 star hotel. Whether you’re a Three Valleys veteran or you’re visiting for the first time this season, one thing is for sure, you’ll want to stop by some of these new spots.
Reaching new heights
The snow front in Courchevel La Praz has been reconfigured ahead of the upcoming season. A brand new 10-seater gondola lift now connects Courchevel La Praz to Courchevel 1850 in less than 6 minutes. You’ll find the departure station within the new Alpinium leisure centre building. With a focus on providing easier and more practical links for pedestrians, the Tovets chairlift has also been moved to a slightly new position.
In addition to this, the Les Grandes Combes chairlift now links the new 4-star Écrin Blanc hotel, opposite the Aquamotion centre, to Courchevel 1850. A new 1-kilometre blue run will also provide access to the area.
Ski touring on the rise
Home to the first marked ski mountaineering route which opened in 2012, Courchevel Moriond is now the location for La Trace, a signposted but ungroomed ski touring itinerary. Setting off from Le Belvédère, it goes up into the forest, by the side of Les Chapelets run, arriving at the top of Le Signal.
Alpine well-being
With well-being the focus of many homes and businesses these days, there’s no reason why your ski holiday can’t follow the same values. New for this season, Aman Le Melezin are offering guests the opportunity to take part in a 30 minute yoga session each morning. The Cheval Blanc are also offering new ‘sports and well-being’ experiences. Guests can embark on an early morning climb taking them up La Saulire before the slopes are open to the public. On arrival back to the hotel, be rewarded with a detox breakfast and a spa treatment followed by a stretching session.
A new multiservice leisure building
Introducing the new multiservice building which aims to modernise and improve Courchevel’s facilities and provide additional parking in the area. Blending perfectly into the landscape with its design, the building will be home to a 2-storey car park, multimedia library with a games room and art workshop, indoor children’s play area and an entrance lobby where you’ll be able to purchase ski passes. As well as housing the station for the new gondola lift, the development also prepares the area for the 2023 Alpine World Ski Championships with a roof terrace viewing point which will overlook the finish line!
Courchevel’s brand new 4 star hotel
Enjoy the understated elegance of the brand new Écrin Blanc hotel for your next ski holiday. The 4 star hotel has 127 rooms and is connected by a private underground tunnel to Aquamotion; perfect for families! The departure station for the new ski lift is just next door, providing easy access to Courchevel 1850 on skis or on foot.
