You can count on our Concierge

You can count on our Concierge

Our team has expanded recently and nowhere more so than in our Concierge Team. With three new recruits, the team is poised and ready to chat through all the additional extra services such as ski instructors, ski school, transfers, husky rides and all those special extras that ensure this season's ski holiday is your best yet.

In continuation with our 'Interview with...' campaign, meet Victoria Perrins, concierge team member - whilst her first experience of skiing is perhaps one she is keen to forget, it certainly ensured that she sympathasise with those who might be trying skiing for the first time this her to ensure you, like her, will fall in love with skiing from hereon in...

1) What is your first memory of skiing?
Falling off a chair lift when I was about five or more precisely my mother dropping me off the lift! But don’t panic it was only about a three meter fall into the roped off area under the lift so lots of soft snow to cushion my fall and it didn’t put me off as twenty years later...I am still skiing!

2) And what is your most memorable day of skiing?
It’s hard to pick just one day but during my ski season in Courchevel 1850 most of my days off where pretty memorable. They usually started with getting up early which was always a struggle and enjoying glorious sunshine down the completely empty Combe Saulire run at the top of Courchevel. Then making the most of the large three valleys ski area and heading over to Val Thorens for a full days skiing, before ending the day at the Ront Point in Meribel to enjoy some much needed après ski.

3) If you could ski with a celebrity, who would it be and why?
Graham Bell and Ed Leigh the presenters of Ski Sunday, they are hilarious and with their vast knowledge I’d happily follow them around the mountain to take advantage of all their inside knowledge.

4) The start of the ski season is fast approaching, what seems to be the most requested extra service being asked for by clients at the moment?
Definitely ski lessons, people are always keen to improve their skills and having a few lessons is a great way to see a vast improvement. If you have been skiing a few times before I would recommend hiring a private instructor for a few mornings to get you back into the swing of things and make sure you're not picking up any bad habits.

5) What would be your top tip for anyone looking to book their ski holiday for this season?
If you’ve been skiing a few times before to the same resort then why not try a brand new resort, call in and speak to one of our chalet specialists and find out what else the Alps has to offer. I was lucky enough to visit the Portes du Soleil region this summer and was impressed by the huge skiing area, with a new lift opening in Chatel the whole area is even more accessible.

6) And if you could give one piece of advice to a first time skier, what would it be?
Enjoy it after all its meant to be a holiday, don’t let yourself be put off, do as much or as little skiing as you like if your happy cruising the green runs then that’s perfect. Also take the time to make the most of all the mountain restaurants stop for a vin chaud and a leisurely lunch in the sunshine. In my opinion skiing is the best kind of holiday so enjoy!
