How to ski this winter

How to ski this winter

With the UK entering a second national lockdown this week, there’s no question that imminent travel is sadly off the cards for November. However, once restrictions have been lifted in early December, resorts will start to open up as they would normally do. The larger higher altitude resorts first such as Zermatt, Verbier, Val d’Isere, Val Thorens followed by all other resorts as Christmas approaches. Meaning you can still look forward to skiing this winter. The Alps remains the most accessible place for Western European travellers to ski and we are expecting a last-minute rush once Covid restrictions are lifted.

As we’ve pointed out in one of our previous blog posts, things will look a little different in resort this year. In order to comply with local government rules, social distancing and mandatory mask wearing will be implemented throughout. To keep you feeling as safe as possible once in resort; ski lifts, ski shops, cafés, bars and restaurants will all adhere to the new rules, whilst chalet and hotel teams will also be on hand to make your stay as comfortable and contactless possible. You can also be assured that we can assist in providing a Covid-secure ‘bubble’ once in resort, as we are able to arrange private dining areas, fast-track lift passes and individual transfers for those looking to minimise interaction with others.

Many of our clients have said they are still happy to fly and indeed a good number have already over the summer. It is worth noting the alternatives. Driving to resort is becoming an increasingly popular option for skiing this winter. You can remain in your vehicle, and in your household bubble, from the minute you leave the UK all the way up until you reach your resort. For maximum speed, efficiency and excellent Covid security, and for those looking for something more luxurious, private charter is a great way to travel.  We have seen a huge increase in demand for private charter services as they provide an excellent alternative to flying on a scheduled airline.

In terms of accommodation options, we have the largest luxury ski portfolio in the industry and can work closely with you to find the perfect hotel or chalet to suit you and your party. We are in constant contact with our partners in the Alps, and receive up to date availability and rates daily, helping to take the hassle out of the booking process for you. We are currently helping our clients to secure accommodation bookings with the most flexible terms and conditions in the ski industry, thanks to our successful Book with Confidence campaign. Long stay chalet rentals are more popular than ever, people are going for extended periods, or even the whole winter.
