Our Top Six Recommendations on Where to go for a Short Skiing Break

Finding the time to take a complete week or two’s holiday can sometimes be difficult but that doesn't mean you can't make it out to the mountains. Who says a ski holiday has to be a week-long affair? Many European resorts are located just a short drive away from the airport meaning you can set off from home and hit the slopes in record time, making a two or three day long weekend or mid-week getaway a truly viable proposition.

To speed you on your way to a quick ski getaway we have listed our top six choices for a short skiing break. And don’t forget our concierge team is here (at no extra cost) to help organise every aspect of your trip, leaving you more time to just enjoy hitting the slopes. Call them on +44 1993 899 420.

Chalet Les Etrennes, Verbier

As one of the most popular ski resorts in the Alps, Verbier was an obvious resort to include in our top six. Fly into Sion, a short 45 min drive from Verbier, or alternatively the well-connected Geneva airport is just under two hours away.

And where better to stay than at Chalet Les Etrennes? This luxury chalet has undergone an extensive renovation and now offers exceptional quality accommodation for up to 12 guests. The chalet has amazing views over Verbier village as well as the Mont Blanc massif. Always important on a short break is the proximity of the slopes from your accommodation – in this regard, Chalet Les Etrennes ticks the box with a 24hr driving service ready to whisk you to the pistes at a moment’s notice.

Twenty26, Morzine

Set within the vast expanse of the Portes du Soleil ski region, Morzine is a popular destination for skiers from all over Europe. And at just under one and a half hours drive from Geneva, it is extremely quick to get there as well.

So where to stay? That’s easy… Chalet Twenty26 is a luxury six bedroom mountain home with a modern, boutique twist. Chic and comfortable, it includes all mod cons as well as a state of the art cinema room, new spa suite with steam room and relaxation area allowing you to unwind as quickly as possible. And not forgetting the skiing – you are just 500 metres from the Nyon cable car.

Pont du Cam, Meribel

Fly into Chambery and a little over an hour later you will find yourself in the middle of Meribel ready for a couple of days skiing at this iconic resort set in the heart of the Three Valleys.

On to accommodation – Chalet Pont du Cam is our top choice, offering guests beautiful, contemporary accommodation, with luxurious furnishing and fantastic attention to detail. With time at a premium, it’s good to note that the bars and shops of Meribel Centre are only a five minute drive away with the choice of a couple of restaurants within walking distance as well. And the slopes… just a two minute chauffeur drive to the Doron piste.

Nidus Penthouse, Lech

Lech is one of our favourite resorts in Austria. Although it takes a little longer to get to, the beautiful, sunlit slopes and reliable snow makes a couple of extra hours travel time worthwhile.

We would suggest staying at The Nidus Penthouse, a luxurious new private ski chalet apartment occupying the top floor of the prestigious Nidus building. Laid out on one level, this luxurious apartment feels incredibly light and spacious. Located just two minutes from the Schlosskopf chairlift and a ten minute walk (or three minute drive) from the village centre, you couldn't be more conveniently located.

Sometimes a chalet is more accommodation that you need, especially if you are looking to take a short break with just your significant other. Checking into a hotel can offer the ultimate in convenience and gives you the best of both worlds – luxurious accommodation and access to an extensive array of facilities.

La Cordee des Alps, Verbier

A member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, La Cordee des Alps is a beautifully designed 4-star hotel. With just 12 suites and 20 rooms, the hotel also boasts a La Cordee & Cinq Mondes spa complete with 15 metre swimming pool. The hotel also has its own fantastic restaurant meaning you don’t have to venture out of the hotel for dinner. A convenient hotel shuttle is on hand to take you to and from the ski lifts.

Raffl’s Tyrol, St Anton

Contemporary interiors and bright colours make this a fun hotel to enjoy a mini ski break at. Rooms have mountain views, modern bathrooms and flat screen cable TVs. And with three in-house restaurants you are spoiled for choice on the food and drink front. Importantly, you are just a 10 minute walk from the slopes or alternatively the hotel offers a driving service for guests should you prefer not to walk.
