Canada is one of the most notable and recognised skiing destinations in the world. Canada has something to offer, no matter your ability, with the perfect pistes for both beginners and experienced skiers looking for exciting and challenging landscapes.
Luxury ski holiday in Canada: Skiing in the “Great White North”
The mountains of British Columbia and Alberta provide a stunning and frosty backdrop for some truly incredible skiing while the Canadian outdoorsy attitude encourages visitors to embrace the cold and explore other off-piste winter activities.
You’ll find that the pistes in Canada are quiet and spacious compared to the crowded slopes in Europe. This dream location is the largest ski area in North America with over 8,000 acres of pistes, reliable snow, and a much longer ski season. The picturesque luxury ski resorts are located right on the slopes with many ski-in/ski-out chalets and hotels available, providing you with as much time on the powder-covered mountains as possible.
What to expect from luxury ski resorts in Canada

We have handpicked the best luxury ski chalets in Canada in both Alberta and British Columbia. The ski resorts of Banff and Lake Louise are some of the most well-appointed and popular in Canada, situated in the breathtakingly beautiful Canadian Rockies and attracting a distinguished and well-heeled clientele. Expect powder snow, turquoise lakes, and exciting blue and black runs like the famous back bowls. Banff and Lake Louise are popular with intermediate and advanced skiers, but they also offer a number of green runs for skiers new to the slopes.
With a higher percentage of black runs than any other, Revelstoke is a dramatic skiing destination that has long attracted the most experienced skiing enthusiasts. With over 500,000 acres of skiable terrain, there’s something for everyone. Explore cultural attractions on days that you don’t want to hit the slopes. The luxury chalets that we have handpicked will ensure your every desire will be taken care of.
The most famous of all the ski resorts in Canada, British Columbia’s Whistler is one of the most snow-sure ski resorts in the world. It offers skiers and snowboarders of all experience levels a wonderful array of over 8,000 snow-covered acres, encompassing sections of the impressive Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. Whistler Village is a charming place to stay, and with a wonderful array of activities for kids, it is no surprise that Whistler is so popular with families.
Travelling to ski in Canada
Having a holiday in Canada is simple for British citizens. All you need is a valid passport and a completed eTA (electronic travel authorisation). These are easy to fill out and should take only five to 10 minutes. Keep up to date with government advice and information on entry requirements here.
Flights from London to Calgary or Vancouver are shorter than other long-haul ski destinations (such as New Zealand), only a little over nine hours from take-off to touch down. Once there, transfers from the airport to the resort will be quick and easy, taking you on a lovely one to two-hour ride through magnificent mountain scenery.

When is the best time to go skiing in Canada?
The average ski season in Canada is much longer than in Europe or New Zealand, ranging across seven months, and in some resorts, the season lasts from November to May. If you plan on staying at resorts at a lower altitude, we’d recommend going between February and March.
That being said, skiing in Banff can offer you perfect skiing conditions late into the season. The snow is as powdery in May as it is in December, allowing you to enjoy winter for much longer. Likewise, Whistler is one of the only locations in North America where you can take advantage of some truly sunny skiing. There is even a short summer ski season hosted on Blackcomb for advanced skiers from mid-June to mid-July.
Enjoy off-the-slopes activities in luxury Canadian ski resorts
Luxury ski holidays in Canada easily rival European destinations thanks to the wide array of additional winter sports and activities resorts can offer. The best resorts will offer unique experiences such as dog sledging, zip-lining, and maybe even a chance to see the Northern Lights! Other unforgettable experiences include snowshoeing, ice fishing, tubing, outdoor skating, and the favourite Canadian pastime - ice hockey.
