Courchevel Village (1550)

Courchevel Village (1550) has a superb range of luxury self-catered apartments and chalets and is generally considered more peaceful than the vibrancy of Courchevel 1850. Courchevel Village is a recommended destination for travellers who wish to have excellent access to the Three Valleys but tend to be more self-sufficient spending their evenings relaxing in their chalet.

The destination

Courchevel Village (1550) Luxury Chalets

The lowest of the interconnected Courchevel ski resorts, Courchevel Village (which was formerly known as Courchevel 1550) is often overlooked by skiers intent on indulging in the ultra-luxury options of its better-known sister resorts. However, there is nothing to snub about Courchevel Village. On the contrary, this less-exclusive resort area offers access to the same world-class ski runs as its high-society sisters—and it does so at a significantly lower price point.

The numbers that were originally assigned to the Courchevel ski resorts refer to each area’s elevation above sea level. As such, ‘Courchevel’ as a blanket term refers to a series of three interconnecting luxury ski resorts rather than a single destination. The seasoned experts at The Oxford Ski Company have hand-selected the finest luxury ski chalets in the area, and those found here at Courchevel Village include some of the most affordable of the set.

It also bears mentioning that comparing Courchevel Village to its more exclusive sister resorts really does it a disservice. By any other comparison, Courchevel 1550 would be in a class all its own, due in large part to the exceptional pistes and infrastructure found here in the three valleys. It’s simply a less exclusive, more affordable alternative to those resorts found further up the piste.

Luxury Skiing in the Three Valleys

The entire Courchevel area is in the eastern-most reaches of France’s Three Valleys—the largest ski region in the world. This is the go-to region for Alpine ski enthusiasts. And for many, skiing anywhere else in the world pales in comparison to enjoying the sport in Courchevel.

One of the greatest advantages of staying in Courchevel Village is easy access to the world-class ski lift system that operates here. An express, six-man chair lift links up the mountain to Courchevel 1650 and 1850, which makes it easy for guests staying here in the village enjoy access to the same slopes as those based higher in the Alps. In all, there are over 600 km of pistes to experience in Courchevel. With so much ground to cover, the slopes are rarely crowded—even during peak season.

Luxury Accommodation in Courchevel 1550

The experts at The Oxford Ski Company have hand-selected a collection of Courchevel Village (1550) luxury chalets where you can base yourself while visiting the region. These properties feature all of the facilities that you would expect at an Alpine resort, from spacious living areas to terraces overlooking the slopes. The higher-end properties also include steam rooms, heated swimming pools, fitness centres and Jacuzzis.

Courchevel Village is an amiable place to retire in the evening. There are several friendly bars and restaurants within walking distance of the properties we curate. If you would like to learn more about what’s available, contact us and we’ll serve as your personal travel consultant. We work for you, rather than for the individual hotels and resorts, ensuring that your holiday experience lives up to Courchevel’s stellar reputation.
