Selva lies at the head of the Val Gardena and is part of the beautiful and extensive Dolomites ski area. The Dolomites have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site and it's not difficult to see why; the uniqueness of the panorama and its diverse, wild landscape are just some of the reasons this area has been protected. It is arguably one of the biggest ski areas in Europe boasting 1200km of prepared pistes, 500km of which are accessible from Selva without taking a single ski bus.

The world famous Sellaronda ski circuit runs right through the village. Selva is a paradise for intermediate skiers with a good selection of wide open blue pistes perfectly groomed for great big carving turns many of which are inter-crossed with pretty tree lined red runs. The area has also benefited from recent lift investment introducing the latest upgrades such as heated seats.

The village itself has a lovely and vibrant atmosphere with a nice selection of après ski bars such as Bar La Stua where you have the choice of enjoying the live music in the downstairs bar or relaxing in the exclusive first floor champagne bar. Bar Saltos is another popular hit where staff wear traditional South Tyrolean dress and serve local drinks – try a refreshing Tyrolean Radler or a warming Italian Bombardino. Selva is also ideal for families and the ice rink in the centre is open to the public during the afternoon and evening.

There are many exceptional restaurants on the slopes.  So, for those who like to break up the day with a served lunch in a stylish setting, there is plenty of choice. There is also a superb selection of restaurants and local pizzerias in resort to enjoy in the evening.

For those looking for something a little different the Val Gardena area offers 150km of cross country skiing slopes and the UNESCO World heritage Val Lunga. This is the most idyllic place to take a lesson and enjoy untouched nature.

In terms of the weather you really are spoilt with sunshine in Selva with an average of 300 sunny days per year. Bright bluebird days are the norm.
