The destination

Among the picturesque valleys and woodlands of the Austrian Tyrol region lies the medieval town of Kitzbuhel, a delightful town with stunning architecture situated on the banks of the pretty Kitzbuhler Ache River, and located a little over 100km to the east of Innsbruck.

With most of its historical centre car-free, Kitzbuhel is not only a wonderful place to ski, but also offers a certain historical charm that most ski resorts of its size can’t match. Notable places of interest in the town include St. Catherine’s Church, which was built in the gothic style between 1360 and 1365, as well as its cable car system, which at 400m above the ground boasts the highest elevation anywhere in the world.

Kitzbuhel is known as a great destination for both beginner and intermediate skiers with 168km of pistes and seven distinct ski areas that are all covered with the one lift pass. More seasoned snow enthusiasts are also well catered for here, with more than 40km of cross country skiing terrain that includes the notable Kitzbuhler Horn and Raintal area. The variety of skiing terrain Kitzbuhel offers makes it a great destination for families and groups comprised of skiers of different experience levels.
