Luxury Ski Chalets Courchevel Moriond (1650)
Courchevel 1650 (which has since been rebranded to ‘Courchevel Moriond’) is lower both in elevation and price than its sister resort, Courchevel 1850. The numbers refer to the elevation above sea level (in metres) of the respective ski towns, though it’s worth noting that the higher-profile 1850 only reaches such heights at its upper-most reaches. With that in mind, Courchevel Moriond can be a more reasonable alternative for skiers more interested in enjoying the Alps than rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous.
Courchevel is located in the eastern-most reaches of the Three Valleys, which is the single-largest skiing region in the world. For many avid skiers, this is quite simply the best place to enjoy the sport anywhere in the world, and Courchevel offers unparalleled luxury—even below the 1850-mark.
The Oxford Ski Company curates a collection of top hotels and chalets in Courchevel, and we’ve made them available to you right here in a single website. Browse the properties that interest you most and feel free to contact our in-house travel consultant for specific recommendations or more information.
The Charm of Courchevel Moriond
Some would insist that you have never really experienced Alpine skiing until you’ve glided down the slopes of Courchevel. This resort area sets the standard to which all other ski resorts should aspire—and many do just that, without ever hitting the mark.
One of the true pleasures of skiing around Courchevel Moriond is riding the lift. This brilliant lift system is so efficient that you’ll rarely find yourself waiting in a queue, even though the resort is—in all honesty—quite busy. But that’s only Courchevel Moriond’s charm.
Courchevel Moriond is also known for its excellent snow-making. The pistes across all of Courchevel’s resorts are meticulously maintained throughout the year, which means even novice skiers can glide almost effortlessly down the slopes. And as a complement to Courchevel’s famously uncrowded lift system, there are so many runs available that the pistes are rarely crowded either—even in peak season. This combined with the many blue and green pistes makes Courchevel Moriond an excellent destination for beginners.
By most accounts, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more idyllic ski resort than Courchevel. And given Courchevel Moriond’s more affordable accommodation, this is where the greatest value for money can be found.
