This may not come as a surprise, but here at Oxford Ski Company we are huge fans of ski chalet holidays. It’s what our entire company was built on; we’ve been booking and designing ski holidays for over 20 years, whilst having the privilege of visiting and staying at some of the most luxurious ski chalets in the world.
At a time when travel restrictions and quarantine rules are changing regularly, ski chalets offer spacious accommodation and naturally provide a ‘bubble’ for those wishing to isolate from others whilst on holiday. During our 20 year history, we’ve seen first-hand how chalet holidays have evolved over time. From cosy and traditional alpine homes with open fires, to striking architectural penthouses and apartments kitted out with the latest technology.
Likened to private boutique hotels, many modern chalets are complete with added luxuries including saunas, hot tubs, swimming pools, cinema and games rooms, providing plenty to keep you occupied when you’re not out on the slopes. All our chalets are also sold on an exclusive use basis so that you can keep strictly within your bubble rather than mixing with other households. Looking for a chalet with specific requirements? Our Collections group together different types of chalets, so you can search for properties suited to your needs. Whether you want chalets which are ski in/ski out, fully catered or complete with hot tubs, our Collections showcase a wide range of ski chalets offering plenty of choice. We’ve also put together a special webpage dedicated to luxury chalets with flexible cancellation terms, so you can book with confidence should your holiday not be able to go ahead as planned.
In this current climate, many chalet operators have adapted their services in line with Covid-19 guidelines. One of our favourite partners in the French Alps is operating a ‘Hands Free’ service which provides contactless service during your stay. Daily breakfasts are laid out and cleared away without guests being home, and a dedicated chalet manager can order restaurant cuisine right to your door to avoid busy eateries. Exclusive use of single therapists can offer massage and beauty treatments in the comfort of your chalet without having to visit a spa, whilst ski equipment and lift passes can be delivered directly to your chalet, avoiding trips to busy lift pass offices and ski rental shops. The stunning Chalet Le Grenier in Méribel is operated by a company who are offering this excellent ‘Hands Free’ service. Located just 50m from the Morel chair lift and the Hulotte piste, this enormous chalet is laid out over 5 floors and offers fine luxury accommodation sleeping up to 12 guests. Stand out features include an indoor hot tub, sauna and massage room as well as a large balcony/terrace with breath-taking mountain views.
Along with in resort safety measures, such as mandatory mask wearing and hand sanitising stations, operators are altering their booking terms and conditions to provide you with maximum flexibility during these uncertain times. One of our recent blog posts provides an insight as to how ski holidays will look during Covid-19, with plenty of in-resort updates and health and safety measures from tourism boards across the Alps. Wherever you’re looking to ski this winter, you can be sure to find a luxury chalet which will provide the perfect home away from home.
