Overview
One of the region’s finest ski chalets and a fixture in several of Asia’s leading interior design and lifestyle magazines, largely because it was created by famous Singaporean interior designer, Nikki Hunt. Without doubt, it oozes grace, mixing stylish architectural lines, shoji screens, exposed beams and a generous sense of space. The chalet is comprised of five bedrooms where a maximum of 11 people can sleep. Though, there is space on Japanese futons for a couple more if necessary. Along with the bathrooms attached to each and every bedroom, there is also a sixth communal bathroom with two cedar Japanese bathhouse style tubs.
The chalet contains a gourmet kitchen (fully equipped kitchen with European appliances), a rather grand dining room, and then also a separate bar area. Then there is the piece-de-resistance - a private movie theater room complete with 52-inch screen. And if that’s not enough, you’ll find plasma televisions in every bedroom.
An additional benefit is that the chalet also provides guests with their very own eight-seater four-wheel drive vehicle for use during their stay. The Mountain Lodge is in Goryu, the next ski village along the valley floor from Happo. The ski slopes are merely 400 metres away, and the bars and restaurants of Goryu village on your doorstep. If you want to get in to the main village in Happo, then the ski shuttle will have you there in under ten-minutes, but remember you can always jump in you own private vehicle if its more convenient.
