The Villages
The resort of Alta Badia comprises several smaller villages: Corvara, Badia, Colfosco, La Val, La Villa, and San Cassiano.
Corvara is a particularly popular choice out of the six villages. Situated at 1,586m, Corvara is a charming mountain town nestled at the foot of the Sassonger mountain, characterised by its quaint traditional buildings and remarkable mountain views.
San Cassiano is a great choice for those in need of a quiet and relaxed summer holiday. Interlinked with Corvara and La Villa, San Cassiano has a quality of local charm to it.
La Villa is equally small and quaint, another quiet and traditional mountain town. Steeped in rustic Tyrolean charm, La Villa is the perfect base from which to explore the Dolomites.

Public and private transfers are available between Alta Badia and the airport. Helicopter transfers to Alta Badia are also an optional method of transport.
It is also possible to travel to Alta Badia via train. The nearest railway station to the resort is Brunico/Bruneck station, located 37km from Alta Badia. Bus services run between the villages of Alta Badia and Bruneck station, with the journey around an hour long, depending on your final destination. Taxi services also run within the area, and are an alternative method of reaching Alta Badia.
Summer in Alta Badia
Summer in Alta Badia is comfortably warm. The air is dry and fresh, any sticky and humid heat kept firmly at bay by the resort’s high altitude. July is the warmest month of all, proving a great time to head to the mountains.
From where it is situated on the southerly side of the main stretch of the Alps, Alta Badia enjoys plenty of sunshine – especially in the summer.

Cycling
No matter if you prefer mountain biking or road biking, Alta Badia is a cyclist’s paradise. The Dolomites are home to extensive cycling routes at a variety of different skill levels. With roads featured in the iconic Giro d’Italia, you can follow the trails of the world’s greatest cyclists amidst the mountains. There are plenty of places throughout the Alta Badia area to rent bikes from, meaning even a casual afternoon bike ride is a possibility.
Swim at Biotope Lake Corvara
Cool off on a warm day at the Biotope Lake Corvara. A peaceful space to spend a summer’s afternoon, the Biotope Lake Corvara consists of three separate ponds: a swimming pond, a children’s pond, and a regeneration pond, which is purified biologically. There is also a play area for children and a restaurant bar.
Golf
Play golf at the foot of the Dolomites. Alta Badia is home to a 9-hole golf course, as well as a Golf School, allowing you to better develop your abilities – or even make your first start playing golf. The golf course is located near Corvara, and is an 11 minute drive from La Villa and a 17 minute drive from S. Cassiano.
Immerse Yourself in the Local History and Culture
Summer in the Dolomites is the perfect time to familiarise yourself with the rich culture, traditions and history of those who inhabit South Tyrol’s mountains and valleys.
The Museum Ladin, housed within a medieval castle, is just a 20-30 minute drive from the Alta Badia villages and provides great insight into the history of the Ladin people. Meanwhile, the Museum Ladin Ursus Iandinicus provides a glance back to the prehistoric period and tells the natural and geographical history of the Dolomites.
Alta Badia also runs an initiative called Nos Ladins, providing you the opportunity to experience the area as if you were a local. As part of a small group, Alta Badia’s Ladin ambassadors will help you to better embrace the culture and practices of the local people.
