Oxford Ski Company forms strategic partnerships to help tackle climate change on behalf of clients and staff
In a continued effort to drive positive change and action to tackle the environmental impacts of travel, Oxford Ski Company has forged three strategic partnerships to benefit clients and staff.
Working in conjunction with Protect Our Winters, ClimateCare and EcoSki, Oxford Ski Company has positioned itself at the forefront of UK agents tackling climate change head-on. By spreading focus across industry specific organisations, carbon offsetting institutions and bespoke eco-conscious businesses, Oxford Ski Company is delivering on its ambition to close the loop and ensure clarity and consistency at each touch point for clients, operations and staff.
When commenting on the strategic partnerships, Rupert Longsdon, Founder and CEO of Oxford Ski Company said “As an industry these initiatives are critical to our futures. It is only through strategic partnerships with organisations such as POW, ClimateCare and EcoSki, and increased consciousness to our own operations, that we can make any meaningful change to benefit the very destinations and environments which we call our playgrounds. This is an exciting step change which we are committed to supporting and discussing with our suppliers, clients and team to drive positive change for the future.
Travel and tourism have long provided economic stability for communities and regions around the world, which as a result means that discouraging travel is not the answer to the problem, but rather an effort to encourage clients to re-appraise how they book and plan for their holidays delivers both immediate and long-term benefit or action and awareness through other walks of life.
Appreciating that these steps alone are not the answer to the greater environmental challenge we all face, these incremental moves continue to build the momentum for Oxford Ski Company to drive awareness with clients, staff and across the industry as a whole, as we all look to how we can each contribute to the mutual objective of a better climate future.
Through the partnership with ClimateCare, Oxford Ski Company are taking responsibility for its own operations and the service it provides to clients by offsetting 1.3 tonnes of carbon for every booking (more than covering an average group booking of 10 guests), whilst ensuring internal processes, staff travel and operations are also rationalised and offset.
Founded by pro snowboarder Jeremy Jones in 2007, global organisation Protect Our Winters (POW) is the single largest environmental network for winter and mountain sports. In supporting their work, Oxford Ski Company is joining that movement with a focus on increasing awareness amongst clients and staff alike to unite towards the common goal of reducing climate change's effects on our sport and local mountain communities, all of whom call these areas their playgrounds.
In partnership with EcoSki, Oxford Ski Company aims to ‘close the loop’ on environmental consciousness for its clients, with a focus on driving awareness of eco-aware clothing brands which have set a benchmark in how to re-think the ski clothing industry in contrast to a world stuck in a disposable fashion lifestyle. From big names such as Mammut and Ortovox to niche startup brands such as Yuki Threads (which produces all its clothing from “rubbish”), EcoSki represents the very best of eco-conscious ski brands from around the world and through this partnership, Oxford Ski Company clients can now save 10% on the entire collection.
These partnerships mark a fundamental shift in how Oxford Ski Company assist in the fight against climate change, protecting mountain playgrounds and delivering on a whiter future for generations to come.
