The aptly named Chalet Schipfa (which means shelter in the local dialect) is perched on the hill overlooking Zermatt. It is a superb spot to retreat to and admire the beauty of Zermatt and it's surroundings.
Overview
Chalet Schipfa is a luxury ski chalet situated on a hill overlooking the heart of Zermatt. The chalet boasts stunning views of the resort and Matterhorn which can be appreciated from the two sunny balconies that run along the width of the chalet and a lunch terrace which faces the Matterhorn.
Chalet Schipfa is a detached property built in the traditional, Swiss alpine style. It's authentic interior design and extensive wooden panelling on the walls and ceilings radiates character and charm. The chalet has a large number of windows that take advantage of the sunny position and vantage of Zermatt.
This luxury ski chalet is spread across two floors. The entrance to the chalet is on the upper floor with spacious living room, kitchen and dining area. This floor also has one double bedroom and bathroom with W/C and shower. From the upper floor there is a staircase that leads to the further three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the lower floor. There is a generous master bedroom with double bed and adjoining bathroom with bath tub, as well as a twin bedroom and another double bedroom with shared bathroom with shower and washing machine. There is also a sauna located on the lower floor.
The chalet benefits from a central location over the heart of Zermatt with direct views over the main church and street which is lined with shops and restaurants. It is important to note that access to the chalet is via a relatively steep path. From the main street it is a climb of 24 vertical metres and distance of 290m and there is no direct lift access. The nearest taxi drop off location to the chalet is next to the English Church which reduces the climb on foot to 15 vertical metres.
