Skiing at Christmas: Luxury Chalets Perfect for Festive Escapes
Christmas in the Alps has an enduring appeal: snowy mountain villages, fireside evenings and the rare opportunity to bring family and friends together somewhere removed from everyday routines. A private luxury chalet adds to that sense of occasion, giving the group its own home in the mountains for the festive period.
Our collection brings together properties suited to Christmas and the surrounding festive weeks, from intimate family chalets to larger residences designed for several generations travelling together. Zermatt is among the destinations currently represented, combining an unmistakable mountain setting with a particularly atmospheric village at Christmas.
The priorities for a festive chalet can be quite different from the rest of the season. Comfortable communal spaces, a proper dining table, children's bedrooms, catering arrangements and somewhere for everyone to relax together can become more important than squeezing every possible minute from the ski day.
Our specialists understand how these properties work during Christmas itself, including the service arrangements and availability pressures around one of the most sought-after weeks of the year. We can help secure the right setting early and arrange the finer details before you arrive.
This is only a small selection of our portfolio.
Skiing at Christmas: Luxury Chalets Perfect for Festive Escapes FAQs
Which ski resorts are the best to visit during the festive period?
During the festive period, there are a plethora of stunning ski resorts to choose from, making your holiday extra magical.
France’s Méribel, known as the ‘Heart of the Three Valleys’, is one of our favourite ski resorts to explore and is widely known for having over 600km of pistes for both beginner and experienced skiers alike.
Courchevel 1850 is another stunning ski resort, with direct access to Les Trois Vallées (The Three Valleys), with a mixture of beautiful chalets and a fantastic dining scene.
When should I book a festive ski holiday?
We recommend you book your ski accomodation soon as you can, usually within 6-12 months of travel.

What activities are available for non-skiers during Christmas?
There are plenty of things to do for non-skiers during the festive period. We highly recommend the following activities to make your holiday magical, regardless of your skiing ability:
Zermatt, Switzerland: Non-skiers love the Gornergrat Railway for its stunning views. During Christmas, the car-free town centre is lit up with festive lights and has a plethora of amazing dining options.
Kitzbühel, Austria: In this gorgeous town, you can expect calming winter walks, art galleries and plenty of historic streets lined with boutiques.
Cortina d’Ampezzo, Dolomites: There’s much to explore for non-skiers in this picturesque northern Italy town. Take one of the pedestrian cable cars to soak up the stunning scenery, browse artisan boutiques and dine in the finest gourmet restaurants.
