St. Anton is one of the most iconic ski resorts in the Alps, blending world-class skiing with a vibrant après-ski scene and authentic Austrian charm. Located a short drive from Innsbruck airport and offering excellent access to the Arlberg ski area, St. Anton is a great choice for a ski holiday like no other.
It’s also a firm favourite of our Senior Chalet Specialist, Sarah Roberts, and here, she shares her love for the popular Austrian ski resort.
1. Après-Ski Like Nowhere Else
St. Anton is famous for its après-ski, and trust me, it’s not to be missed. For a true Austrian experience, head to MooserWirt, where you’ll find traditional tunes, steins of beer, and an electric atmosphere. Prefer something a little more contemporary? Krazy Kanguruh is the place for up-to-date beats and a lively vibe. If you’re staying for the week, make time to try them both!
2. Skip the Lift Lines
When heading up the Galzig side of the mountain, avoid the crowds at the Galzigbahn and opt for the Gampen chairlift instead. Not only will you skip the queues, but you’ll also get faster access to more of the mountain—perfect for early risers eager to hit the slopes.
3. Off-Piste Paradise
For quieter, longer, and more thrilling off-piste runs, make your way to Stuben. It’s a bit off the beaten track and offers some of the best powder in the region. Trust me, it’s worth the journey if you’re an experienced skier looking for adventure.
4. Ski the White Ring
Now that St. Anton, Zürs, and Lech are all connected by a new high-speed lift, it’s easier than ever to ski the legendary “White Ring” circuit. You can explore these stunning resorts and still be back in time for après-ski in St. Anton.
5. Sun, Tricks, and Rendl Beach
For park lovers and sun-seekers, head up Rendl. Grab a drink at Rendl Beach and watch talented skiers and snowboarders pull off impressive tricks in Stanton snow park. It’s a great spot to take a break while enjoying the sunshine.
6. Easy to Reach
St. Anton is one of the most accessible resorts in the Alps. It’s just over an hour from Innsbruck, either by car or train. Even better, the resort has its own train station, making it a breeze to reach—no complicated transfers required.
7. Dining on the Mountain
From traditional Austrian huts to high-end culinary experiences, St. Anton’s mountain restaurants offer something for every taste. For a lavish lunch, try the famous Hospiz Alm in St Christoph, known for its fine dining and legendary wine cellar. If you prefer something more casual, find a cosy hut for hot chocolate and hearty goulash.
8. Great for Families
For families with younger children, St. Anton is a fantastic choice. The Nasserein area has an excellent beginner ski school and dedicated learning zones, making it ideal for your little ones finding their ski legs.
9. Activities for Non-Skiers
Not a skier? No problem. St. Anton has plenty to keep non-skiers entertained. Visit the impressive Arlberg WellCom wellness centre for a relaxing spa day, try your hand at bowling or indoor climbing, or explore the scenic winter walking trails. You can also take a short trip to Lech and Zürs for more activities and some light shopping.
10. The Friendly Austrian Charm
Finally, there’s something special about Austrian hospitality. The people of St. Anton are warm, welcoming, and always happy to share their love of the mountains with visitors. That’s why I love going back again and again.
