Luxury Chalets in St. Martin de Belleville

The destination

St Martin De Belleville, known affectionately as the ‘hidden jewel’ of the Alps, is located in Les Trois Vallées, or in English, the Three Valleys, a renowned ski resort area in the Rhône-Alpes of south-eastern France.

This world-famous resort has managed to retain its timeless, traditional charm and is also considered home of the best restaurants in all the French Alps, including one with no less than three Michelin stars, making it an ideal destination for gastronomes as well as skiing enthusiasts.

A picturesque setting if there ever was one, the village is a delight to explore with its alpine chalets, relatively car-free streets, distinctive architecture, wonderful array of cafés that are perfect for soaking up the sun, and exquisite vistas of the mountains the village is nestled among.

No more than a glance at a single photo of the village is required to understand why practically every winter skiing brochure now features a summer season section detailing activities and places of interest to visit.

Despite the number of airports nearby, including Annecy, Chambéry, Grenoble, Geneva, and Lyon, St Martin De Belleville never sees the hordes that descend upon other renowned ski resorts in Les Trois Vallées, which has led some visitors to describe the village as ‘off the beaten track’.

This is, however, no backwater, but an immensely attractive village where well-heeled holidaymakers mingle and chat over coffee in the warmth of the villages’ delightful cafés before heading to the renowned, and wonderfully picturesque, sweeping runs through the powder-covered hills that look out over the resort.

With more than 600km of pistes, of which many are suitable for beginners and even more for intermediate skiers, St Martin De Belleville is the perfect destination for an upmarket family skiing holiday, though couples, and more experienced skiers, will also find the resort very much to their liking.
