Val Thorens has been extremely successful, a remarkable modern project as opposed to a traditional French alpine village. Known to be the highest ski resort in Europe and located in Tarentaise Valley, this resort is part of the 3 Vallées, the largest ski area in the world

9. Morzine, France

Known to be the skiing capital of Austria, St Anton is one of the liveliest ski resorts in the country. With skiing being Austria's natural sport, St Anton is renowned for its contributions to the alpine sort, including the downhill skiing technique that was pioneered nearly one hundred years ago. Located in Les Trois Vallées, or in English, the Three Valleys, St Martin de Belleville is a renowned ski resort area in the Rhône-Alpes of south-eastern France.

Lech is located in the Bludenz district on the banks of the river Lech. Offering reliable snow throughout the season, this luxury ski resort is very popular this year. 5. Zermatt, Switzerland
Zermatt is known for one of the most famous mountains in the world, the Matterhorn. With breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps, this luxury ski resort is renowned for its beauty.
Described by many as the ‘Jewel in Switzerland’s Crown’, Zermatt is known to be one of the best ski resorts in the world. Zermatt boasts 183km of groomed pistes ranging in altitude from 1,620 metres, up to the ‘Matterhorn glacier paradise’ at 3,883 metres.

With Verbier’s sun-drenched slopes and breathtaking altitude of 1,500 metres, this luxury ski resort is highly sought after. We have found that this resort is one of the most loved and raved about ski resorts in all of the alps.

3. Méribel, France
The luxury ski resort is built with historical charm, dating back to the 1930s. Located in the heart of the Three Valleys, this is one of the first ski resorts to be built in the area.
This resort is a top favourite for British skiers thanks to its abundance of charm and hospitality. With a great variety of beautiful chalets and high-class hotels to choose from, there’s something for everyone. In fact, it’s now seen as the home to catered chalet holidays.
The ski facilities Méribel offers are fantastic, with ski runs available to all ski levels. You can even experience a number of pistes that wind their way through the village itself - an absolutely breathtaking experience, especially at night.
Skiing in Méribel also provides connections to nearby resorts such as Courchevel, Les Menuires, St. Martin de Belleville, and La Tania.
You’ll also find plenty to do off the slopes, with high-class restaurants, live music and more. 2. Courchevel 1850, France
Ranking number two in our top 10 list is Courchevel 1850! This resort actually consists of four separate ski towns, each with its own features and charm. Courchevel 1850, however, stands in a class of its own.
This luxury ski resort is easily the most attractive ski resort in all of the French Alps. Unlike most ski resorts, Courchevel 1850 was not built around an existing village already in the Alps, it was in fact built from the ground up for no other reason than to accommodate and cater for skiers. This means the resort was built specifically for the needs and luxury of its guests, making it the perfect experience.
Featuring two of only eight formally recognised 6-star hotels in France, the dining experience available is something you don’t want to miss. As the crown jewel in the Courchevel resort region, you may even be accompanied by royalty - this is where the rich and royal escape for a holiday on the slopes.

1. Val d'Isère, France
Last but most certainly not least, ranking number one at our most popular luxury ski destination this year, we have Val d'Isère!
Considered to be one of the world’s finest ski resorts, Val d'Isère is just a few kilometres from the French-Italian border. The resort is located high in the Tarentaise Valley in the Savoie department of south-eastern France.
Val d'Isère forms the ‘Espace Killy’ with its neighbouring resort Tignes. This is a world-famous ski area with 300km of pistes. At an altitude of 1.850 metres above sea level, you can be assured snow all year round, and anyone can enjoy it! With an amazing selection of runs for beginners, intermediate and advanced skiers, this really is the resort for everyone.
Even off the slopes, there’s loads to enjoy. This luxury ski resort offers a great variety of accommodation. The central and western areas of Val d’Isère offer traditional chalet-style.
