Skiing in North America is like nowhere else in the world. The resorts in the rocky mountains are spectacular. They offer something for everyone; long groomed runs from the top of the mountain to the base that are as wide as motorways as well as world famous tree runs and glades perfect for exploring. More adventurous skiers can enjoy the incredible off-piste skiing and for those looking to take their holiday to the next level, North America is the perfect place for cat skiing and heli-skiing.
I have visited Banff, Alberta many times and on my recent visit I was still captivated by how beautiful the mountain landscape is. The valleys stretch for miles with nothing but roads and rivers running through them, an untouched expanse just waiting to be explored. Be sure to keep an eye out for the abundance of wildlife during your travels; Elk, Coyotes, Bison, a Moose or even a Wolf pack!
While the quaint ski villages of Europe are the ideal for many people, the old mining towns of the US and Canada have their own distinct charm. Characterful high streets filled with classic saloons, taverns and restaurants mostly named after a bear or moose! In addition, the locals are very welcoming and friendly; the lift queues (if any) are calm and orderly with lift attendants who are as happy as you to be in the mountains.
To answer the question 'what does North America have to offer?' A beautiful wilderness to explore, charming and friendly little mountain towns and amazing skiing.
