The destination

Where is Méribel ski resort located?

Situated at the heart of the Three Valleys, or Les Trois Vallées in French, Méribel is well connected to neighbouring resorts via lift links. The Three Valleys comprise 180 lifts, 335 marked runs, and over 130km of cross-country tracks.

Luxury ski holidays in Méribel: What to expect

Méribel first became a ski destination in the late 1930s, and soon became one of the first major ski resorts in the Three Valleys network.

The perfectly located pistes mean skiers can expect blissful, extensive views stretching for miles, with a picture-perfect view of Mont Blanc from many viewpoints.

The scenery is one of the many reasons Méribel is so popular; it is synonymous with wide, sprawling ski trails covering the Three Valleys network, allowing skiers to dip into other resorts as they please.

When is the best time to visit Méribel?

The Méribel ski season runs from early December to April, combining natural and man-made snow that keeps conditions powder-fresh all season long.

The coldest months to visit Méribel are January and February, but the south-facing ski areas will still experience some warm sun and brighter slopes. During the warmer spring months, avoid slush by sticking to cooler, north-facing pistes.

Intermediate skiing in Méribel

Intermediates can take their pick of quiet red and blue runs through wide sunny descents, gentle wooded terrain, or fast swooping slopes.

Our more advanced skiers can try their hand at the Women’s Olympic Downhill run or get a thrill out of challenging black ski runs amongst the treelines.

Off-piste skiing

Adventurous skiers can relish the off-piste challenges in Méribel and the Three Valleys area.

The Mt Vallon face above Mottaret is an off-piste favourite, but there are many options of sweeping, fresh-powdered plains and runs that are easily accessible by chair lifts.

Méribel skiing for beginners

There’s no need to be a professional or experienced skier to enjoy the slopes at Méribel.

There are excellent options in nursery slopes, tree-lined greens, and even special-speed chair lifts that go extra slow to enable safe boarding and exiting.

Méribel for families

Families are well catered for in Méribel, with nursery slopes perfect for children.

The resort has won the Famille Plus award, with plenty for children to enjoy, including themed ski areas such as the Inuit village, and many trusted ski schools we can recommend.

The best ski runs in Méribel to explore

  • Combe du Vallon - An exceptionally long run with high-altitude skiing and perfect powder quality.

  • Roc De Fer - A rolling blue that starts at the top of the Olympic ski lift and gets lovely sun in the morning.

  • La Face - A straight black run created for the 1992 Olympic downhill races that start at a thrilling 2,290m.

The best après-ski in Méribel

The popularity of Méribel stems from its combination of incredible skiing, alluring alpine surroundings, and some of the best après-ski and nightlife in France.

La Folie Douce

Start the party early with some tabletop dancing and breathtaking mountain views. La Folie Douce is one of the most sought-after spots for après-ski, with live acts, plenty of champagne, and table-top dancing.

Le Rond Point

Le Rond Point is a ski-in, ski-out bar that’s a local favourite with nightly live music, the perfect way to end a day on the slopes. Our top tip? Get there around 4 pm to secure a table - they go fast!

Jack’s Bar Méribel

Located in the Méribel centre, just a short walk away from the ski lifts, is Jack’s Bar. This sports bar shows all the main sports fixtures with a perfectly situated terrace so you can soak up the afternoon rays.

Sully’s Bar and Nightclub

Sully’s bar is a popular place with the seasonnaires, and with good reason! The resident DJs offer plenty of lively nights, with cocktails on tap and an underground venue for the perfect hideaway.

Hotel le Roc

The Doron pub is located in the centre of Méribel town, which opens until late, making it the perfect place to start or end your night.

Méribel boutique shopping

Our more ardent fashionistas can take advantage of the many luxury boutiques in Méribel Village that feature designer brands such as Prada, Longchamp, and Dolce & Gabbana.
